I am a borderline tree hugger! I love everything about nature but with some creature comforts. I love to walk outside in nature. I love to fall asleep to the sound of the rain on the roof. I even love grabbing cuddly sweaters and hibernating in the warmth of my home, while the snow falls on a winter evening and creates a hushed, sparkly environment outside my windows.

But my favorite times are the transitions to Spring and Fall. Having lived in the Midwest of the U.S. for my entire life, I always feel tardy about Spring. But really, we lag behind Spring in the rest of the Country, at the appointed time, because in the Midwest it’s likely to still be very cold and crispy (sometimes even with snow still on the ground).

Starting at the Vernal Equinox (March 20th), I become like a hawk; looking for signs of transition. My tulip leaves are about 3 inches tall today and the buds are crowning on my bushes and trees out front.

And I am ready for another shift in me too; in the way I serve others, in how I operate out in the world, and, in how I measure my joy and happiness.

How about you? Does a change in the season have any meaning for you? Did you notice that on March 20th, the days were balanced equally between dark and light? Probably not. Our world moves very quickly, regardless of where you live.

But maybe we would benefit from slowing down a bit, at the turn of each season. I use these times as benchmarks; to stop and notice what is playing out under the surface.

Unplug from the hamster wheel of life and work, just for a bit, to be able to hear yourself think. You have brilliance between those ears of yours… better yet, that brilliance is best listened to from all parts of your body intelligence! Take a moment now to listen to what your body is telling you about your experience of life.

It could be for a few minutes or for a long vacation. It could be an intentional pause to be able to step back and re-evaluate the parts that work (or don’t) about your life. Or, it could be a two-by-four across the head by the Universe; like being laid off, getting ill, breaking a bone, etc.–not necessarily life-threatening but still a PITA.

I hope your pause is intentional and not the Universal 2X4, but however, you take (or are given) your pause, grab it like the precious gift that it is. Allow yourself to daydream about the joy of life… what works…what brings you happiness… what can you appreciate about your life, regardless of the circumstances… what do you want more of? And, what’s missing?

If there’s not enough joy and work-ability in your life, maybe it’s time to change something up. Do some introspective work.

If I can be of service in your quest for more joy, fun, happiness, and purpose, reach out. It would be my honor to work with you!

Celebrating your magnificence,

Kathleen
